The Penguins

Heat Reactive Hue

Artists Name: Jane & Lucy Robertson

Sponsored By: Insights

Inspired by the potential of smart materials, Jane and Lucy wanted to create a heat reactive penguin that reveals colour when touched with a warm hand. Covered in a pattern of white snowflakes the black thermochromic pigment disappears at 25c to reveal Hue’s true colours and the word ‘Hello’ in lots of different languages. The shape of the hand stays temporarily until the penguin cools back down to below 25c. Hue will also change in the heat of the sun and may need extra hugs on cool days.
